The Future of Tattoo Art: We Reveal the Tattoo Community's Attitude Towards AI Technology
Pushing the boundaries of creativity.
As the tattoo industry continues to evolve, so does the way we create art - enter artificial intelligence (AI). Although the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the world of tattoo art is becoming more prevalent, artists are still deciding how to adjust to this new technology, regardless of its potential benefits. However, one thing has become crystal clear: AI is impacting the art of tattooing, and it's here to stay.
To better gauge how the tattoo community feels about AI, the Industry Tattoo Supply team recently surveyed the topic. In this blog post, we will of course, share the survey results with you and take a glimpse into the contrasting opinions of the tattoo community.
The results are in | AI & Tattoo Art
We asked our community of artists if they've ever used AI art-generating tools to help design a tattoo, and it turns out that most of our responders almost 80% have yet to use any AI art-generating tools to create their tattoo designs. However, when asked if they believe that AI art-generating tools for tattoo designs will become more common in the future, the vast majority (90%) answered yes.
It's exciting to see that the tattoo industry is open to exploring new tools and technologies to create art. However, witnessing how this new technology could open more opportunities for less experienced artists to get more creative with their designs is even more exciting. So, if you've yet to discover any AI tools relevant to the tattoo industry, you might want to check out Deep Dream, ArtBreeder & Midjourney, just to name a few.
Moving on, we were too excited to discover the opinions of the next surveyed question:
Will AI ruin the quality of tattoo design?
Now, we know that as professional tattooists, the quality of the tattoos you create is of utmost importance. That's why we asked if the use of AI art-generating tools will lead to a decline in the quality of tattoos, and the majority of you (over 70%) answered no - proving that the tattoo community believes that even with AI-generated designs, the artist's skill in executing the art will still be the determining factor in the quality of the tattoo.
To summarise, while some are worried that AI-generated designs could lead to a decline in the quality of tattoos, others are excited about this technology's new opportunities. However, it will be up to each artist to decide how they want to incorporate AI into their creative process.
